Getting started

Updated

This is the whole setup as a checklist. Each step links to a detailed guide. Nothing changes for your visitors until step 6, so you can try everything safely.

  1. Add your site. Enter its current address. Takes a minute.
  2. Install the connector plugin (WordPress® only). Lets us find every page and rebuild when you publish. About 5 minutes. Not on WordPress? Skip it: see Sites that aren't WordPress.
  3. Run a build and check the preview. Click through the copy and send a test form.
  4. Set up forms. Choose where submissions go.
  5. Connect your domain. Prove you own it with one DNS record.
  6. Go live. Publish the build and point your domain at WranglePress.
  7. Keep WordPress or retire it. Make WordPress private if you'll keep editing, or retire WordPress if the site rarely changes.

How long does it take?

Steps 1–4 take about 15 minutes. Steps 5–7 depend on your DNS provider and host: usually under an hour of work, plus waiting for DNS changes to spread (often minutes, sometimes a few hours).

Before you start

Have these ready:

  • An admin login for the WordPress site (not needed for other websites).
  • A login for wherever the domain's DNS is managed (often your domain registrar, your host, or Cloudflare).
  • For step 7, a login for your hosting control panel.

Doing this for a client? You can do steps 1–4 without bothering them. For steps 5–7 you'll need DNS and hosting access, or someone on their side to add a few records.
