Forms

Updated

The static copy can't run WordPress® form plugins, so we relay form submissions. Choose a mode in the site's Settings, under Forms.

ModeWhat happens to a submissionChoose it when
Email submissions to me (default)We email it to the addresses you choose. WordPress never sees itYou just need messages in your inbox
Forward to WordPressWe pass it to your private WordPress, and your form plugin handles it as usualYou rely on the plugin's saved entries, its own emails, or links to a CRM or Mailchimp
OffForms show an error messageThe site has no forms

Contact Form 7 and WPForms are supported directly, including their success messages. Most simple forms work too. Always send a test message through the preview before going live.

Who receives form emails

In Send form emails to, enter up to 10 addresses, separated by commas. Leave it blank to send to your team's owner.

  • Addresses of people on your team who have confirmed their email start receiving at once.
  • Any other address gets a short confirmation email first, and receives nothing until someone clicks Confirm in it. This keeps the form relay from emailing people who didn't agree to it.
  • Confirmation emails are limited to one per address per week, and 20 per team per day. If one doesn't arrive, check spam, then save the settings again after a while.

Forward mode needs a reachable WordPress

In forward mode we send each submission to your WordPress address. If WordPress is private (as it should be after go-live), save the access key so our relay can get through.

Submissions log

Click Recent form submissions in Settings to see what came in through email mode. In forward mode, submissions go straight to WordPress and show up in your form plugin instead. Submissions are kept for 30 days, then deleted.

Spam and limits

Each visitor can send about 5 submissions a minute per site (visitors on IPv6 are counted by their network, not each address), and each site takes about 30 a minute in total. Each site's form emails are capped at 200 a day: past that, submissions are still kept and shown under Recent form submissions, marked as not emailed. Submissions over 256 KB are refused. Fields like CAPTCHA tokens and WordPress security codes are removed before delivery: in email mode, CAPTCHAs aren't checked, so the per-visitor limit is what holds spam back. Uploaded files aren't kept in email mode (the email names the file instead). Use forward mode if you rely on your form plugin's CAPTCHA or file uploads.
