Install the connector plugin

Updated

The WranglePress Connector is a small, free WordPress® plugin. It does three things:

  • Tells us whenever you publish, update or delete content, or change menus, widgets, the theme or plugins, so we rebuild the copy.
  • Gives us a list of every public page, so nothing is missed.
  • Adds a Rebuild now button in Settings → WranglePress and in the admin bar.

It never sends us passwords, and it only answers requests signed with your site's key.

Install it

  1. Open your site's page in the dashboard. In card 1. Connect the plugin, click download to get wranglepress-connector.zip.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin. Choose the zip file and click Install Now, then Activate.
  3. Back in the dashboard, open Connection key in the same card and copy the whole key. It looks like abcdef123456. followed by a long string of letters and numbers.
  4. In WordPress, go to Settings → WranglePress, paste the key and click Save key.
  5. In the dashboard, click Test connection. You should see "Connected", with your WordPress, PHP and theme versions.

Is it required?

No, but it's strongly recommended. Without it, we find pages by following links and reading your sitemap, and the copy only updates when you click Build now.

Who can see the key?

Only owners and admins of your team. Treat it like a password. If you think it has leaked, remove the site and add it again to get a new key, or email us.
