Builds
| Message or problem | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "The home page could not be captured" | We couldn't load your WordPress® home page | Open the WordPress address in Settings in a browser. If WordPress is private, check the access key is saved and its policy is Service Auth |
| "Stopped early: page limit (5000)" | The site has more than 5,000 pages | Email us |
| URLs "returned not found" | Links on your site point at pages that don't exist | Fix the links in WordPress, or ignore it |
| URLs "failed to download" | Your server was slow or returned errors | Build again. If it keeps happening, your host may be limiting requests |
| "Directory listings are switched on" | Anyone can browse some of your server's folders | Ask your host to turn them off |
| A build is stuck | Builds that run over an hour are stopped by our daily clean-up | Email us, and we can stop it sooner |
| "Another build for this site is already running" | Only one build runs at a time | Wait for it to finish |
Missing pages
We find pages from the connector plugin, your sitemap and links. If a page is missing:
- Install the connector plugin, which lists every published page.
- Check the page is published and not set to "noindex" or excluded from your sitemap by an SEO plugin.
The copy looks different
- Missing styles or images: something on the page is loaded by a script after the page opens, from WordPress. Tell us which page; we can usually fix it.
- Old content: the copy updates after a build. Check the Builds list for a recent one, or click Build now.
- A widget doesn't work: see what works.
Forms
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| No emails arrive | Check Recent form submissions. If the submission is there, check spam and that the address has confirmed (see Forms) |
| Nothing in Recent form submissions | Check the form mode isn't Off, and test on the preview. In forward mode, submissions appear in your WordPress form plugin, not here |
| "Too many submissions" | One visitor sent more than about 5 in a minute. Wait a minute |
| Forward mode doesn't reach WordPress | Save the access key, and check the WordPress address in Settings |
Domains and certificates
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Verify says the record isn't found | Wait a few minutes. Check the record's name: some DNS providers add your domain automatically, so enter only _wranglepress.www |
| Certificate stays "pending" | Check the CNAME points at edge.wranglepress.io and, on Cloudflare, is DNS only. If you have CAA records, they must allow Cloudflare's certificate authorities |
| "Cloudflare couldn't set up …" | Click Save domain again with the same domain |
| The site shows an error after going live | Check the site is live in the dashboard. If not, publish a build |
