Use WranglePress from an AI assistant

Updated

WranglePress has an MCP server: a standard way for AI assistants to use an app for you. Connect your assistant once, then ask it things like:

  • "Add these 20 client sites to WranglePress and build them all." (paste the list)
  • "Which of my sites aren't live yet, and what's the next step for each?"
  • "Set the domain for Acme Plumbing to www.acmeplumbing.com and tell me the DNS record to add."
  • "Roll back bakery.com to yesterday's build."
  • "Send form emails for all the Smith Law sites to intake@smithlaw.example."
  • "Show me this week's contact form submissions for Acme."

The assistant can do what you can do in the dashboard, for your current team, with your role. Tools that change what visitors see (publishing, rolling back, taking a site offline, removing) are marked so your assistant asks you before using them, and WranglePress tells it to confirm with you.

Connect a chat app (Claude, ChatGPT)

  1. Open AI assistants in the top menu and copy the server address.
  2. Claude: go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. ChatGPT: go to Settings → Apps & Connectors, turn on developer mode, and create a connector.
  3. Paste the server address. Leave the client ID and secret empty.
  4. You'll be sent to WranglePress. Sign in if asked, check the team name, and click Allow. Untick "Add sites, run builds…" for read-only access.

The app now appears under Connected apps on the AI assistants page, where you can disconnect it.

Connect Claude Code, Cursor or a script

These use an API key:

  1. On AI assistants, under API keys, name the key (for example "Claude Code on my laptop"), choose Full or Read only, and click Create key.
  2. Copy the key straight away. It's shown only once.
  3. Add the server with the key. For Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http wranglepress https://app.wranglepress.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"

The AI assistants page shows the exact command and Cursor's settings for your account.

Members get the same tools they have in the dashboard: reading, starting builds, testing connections and editing pages (without publishing). Domains, publishing, settings, form submissions, downloads, removing and restoring are for owners and admins. Read-only keys and connections can't change anything.

What it can't do for you

Some steps happen outside WranglePress, so the assistant explains them instead: adding DNS records at your DNS provider, installing the plugin in WordPress (unless your assistant also has access to WordPress), and setting up Cloudflare Access. It can't change billing or invite teammates.

Keep it safe

  • Treat API keys like passwords. Anyone with a key can act as you in this team. Revoke keys you no longer use.
  • Review before publishing. Ask the assistant to show you the preview link first.
  • Requests are limited to 120 a minute per person.
