# Questions and answers

## The basics

### What does WranglePress do?
It makes a copy of your WordPress® site as plain files and shows that copy to visitors from Cloudflare's worldwide network. Then it's your choice: keep WordPress at a private address that only you and your editors can open, where every publish updates the copy, or retire WordPress completely.

### Why would I want that?
Because visitors' page requests never reach PHP, the software WordPress runs on. In 2026 three serious flaws hit WordPress and PHP themselves, and each was attacked within hours or days. With a static copy, a new flaw has no public door to come through. Sites also load fast and handle traffic spikes.

### Will my site look the same?
Yes. We copy the finished pages your theme already makes, with their images, fonts and styles. Use the private preview to check before going live.

### Do I have to keep WordPress?
No, it's up to you. Keep it, privately, and you and your editors work exactly as you do now; only its address changes and it gets a login screen in front. Or retire it: the site stays online exactly as it is, and you can cancel the hosting for WordPress.

### Can I get rid of WordPress completely?
Yes. Once the site is live on WranglePress, make a backup of WordPress, set forms to email mode, and cancel the hosting. There's nothing left to update or patch. To change the site later, restore WordPress from the backup and build again.

### Can I download my site?
Yes. Any finished build can be downloaded as a ZIP of every page and file, ready for any static host. Big downloads resume if they're interrupted. It's yours to keep, whether you stay with WranglePress or not.

### Do I have to change hosts?
No. If you keep WordPress, it stays on your current host, and we only serve the public copy. If you retire it, you don't need a host at all.

## Features

### Do contact forms still work?
Yes. We either email each submission to you, or, if you keep WordPress, pass it on to your private WordPress so your form plugin's emails and integrations keep running. Contact Form 7 and WPForms are supported directly, and most simple forms work too.

### Does it work with websites that aren't WordPress?
Yes. WranglePress copies any website that shows every visitor the same pages: Joomla, Drupal, Craft, a site from an older website builder, or one written by hand. The connector plugin is for WordPress only, so on other sites you click **Build now** (or ask your AI assistant) after a change, and we find pages through your links and sitemap. Two things don't work: pages that your browser builds with JavaScript after loading, and page addresses ending in `.php`. A free trial build shows you exactly what the copy looks like.

### Does it work with Elementor, Divi or other page builders?
Yes. Page builders produce normal web pages, and those pages are what we copy.

### Does it work with WooCommerce?
Not for checkout, carts or customer accounts, because every shopper sees something different. Shops should stay on normal hosting for WordPress.

### What about search and comments?
WordPress's built-in search and new comments need PHP, so they don't work on the copy. You can use a hosted search box or comment service instead. See [what works](https://wranglepress.com/what-works).

### How fast do changes show up?
Usually within a minute or two of pressing Publish, if the connector plugin is installed. You can also press Build now at any time.

### What if something goes wrong?
A failed build never replaces the live site. We email you, and the dashboard shows what went wrong. Every good build is kept, so you can roll back with one click.

## SEO and domains

### Will this hurt my search rankings?
It shouldn't. Every page keeps its web address, titles, descriptions and sitemap. Pages usually get faster, which helps.

### What do I have to change in DNS?
Two records: one to prove you own the domain, and one to point it at WranglePress. Email and other records stay as they are. Our help pages show exactly what to add.

### Can I go back?
Yes, at any time. If you kept WordPress, point your domain back at your host. If you retired it, restore it from your backup first.

## Accounts and billing

### Is there a free trial?
Yes. 14 days, up to 2 sites, and no card needed.

### Can I invite my team?
Yes. Invite people by email as admins or members. Admins can manage sites: domains, publishing, settings, form submissions and downloads. Members can see sites and builds, and start builds.

### How do I cancel?
In the dashboard, the team owner opens Billing and clicks Manage payment and invoices. Your plan stays active to the end of the period you paid for.

### Can I use WranglePress from ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes. WranglePress has an MCP server, so AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor can add sites, run builds, connect domains and publish for you after you sign in and approve them. See [AI assistants](https://wranglepress.com/ai-assistants).

### Is WranglePress for agencies?
Yes, it's built for them. One account holds all your client sites, with plans from 8 to 75 sites. See [WranglePress for agencies](https://wranglepress.com/agencies).

## Security

### Does this mean my site can't be hacked?
No product can promise that, and we don't. It removes the public path to PHP, which is how most serious WordPress attacks work. If you keep WordPress, it and its server still need care; if you retire it, there's nothing left to patch. Your accounts always need care. Read [what we protect and what we don't](https://wranglepress.com/security).

### Do you need my WordPress password?
No. The connector plugin uses its own key that can only list pages, report the site's WordPress, PHP, theme and plugin versions, and request rebuilds.
