# Leaving WordPress® without a rebuild

**Short version:** After 2026's security news, many people are thinking about leaving WordPress for Webflow, Framer or Cloudflare's new EmDash. That can be the right move, especially if the site needs a redesign anyway. But it's a rebuild: the import tools move posts and images, not your design, page-builder layouts or forms. WranglePress is the other way out: it freezes your site exactly as it looks, so you can **retire WordPress entirely without a rebuild**, or keep it privately if you still want to edit.

| | Rebuild on Webflow, Framer or EmDash | WranglePress, WordPress retired | WranglePress, WordPress kept private |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your design | Rebuilt from scratch | Kept exactly | Kept exactly |
| Editing | In the new tool | None (the site stays as it is) | In WordPress, as today |
| Time to switch | Weeks for a typical project | About a day | About a day |
| Cost | Platform fee (free to about $30/month) plus the rebuild | $19/month per site, or less on agency plans; no hosting for WordPress | The same, plus your hosting for WordPress |
| WordPress to maintain | None | None | A private WordPress to keep updated |
| Can you go back? | Not easily | Yes, restore WordPress from a backup | Yes, point the domain back |

Platform details: [Framer pricing](https://www.framer.com/pricing), [EmDash](https://emdashcms.com/) (free and open source, 1.0 released 28 September 2026), checked 24 October 2026. Webflow's pricing page didn't load for us; third-party listings put its site plans at about $14–$29 a month.

## When leaving is the better choice

- The site needs a redesign anyway.
- The site needs regular changes and you want no WordPress at all, even a private one.
- Your team prefers a visual editor like Webflow's or Framer's.

## When freezing with WranglePress is better

- The design works and the client is happy with it.
- **The site rarely changes:** retire WordPress and you've left it, with no rebuild.
- Editors know WordPress and don't want to retrain: keep it private.
- You look after many sites and can't rebuild them all.

You can also do both: freeze the site on WranglePress today, then rebuild later on your own timeline.
